Econotreat VBB-P-2000

ECONOTREAT

The Econotreat VBB-P-2000 Advanced Secondary Treatment System is a high-performance, eco-friendly wastewater solution designed specifically for rural New Zealand homes and demanding trade installations. Proudly manufactured in Northland, this system is a leader in its class, treating up to 2,000 litres per day while keeping operating costs exceptionally low.

Engineered to meet strict NZ standards, the Econotreat VBB-P-2000 runs on a single high-efficiency blower, drawing only 1.3 kWh of power per day. Thanks to its proven nitrogen reduction verified at the National Testing Facility, it is one of the few secondary treatment systems permitted for installation in environmentally sensitive and restricted discharge areas, such as around the Rotorua Lakes. Constructed from lightweight, robust plastic modules, this version is the ultimate choice for sites with tight access or challenging terrain where traditional concrete tanks cannot go.

Why Trade Professionals and Kiwi Homeowners Choose Econotreat:

  • Highly Energy-Efficient: Consumes a mere 1.3 kWh per day, minimizing ongoing household power bills.
  • Tough & Durable Construction: Injection-molded from UV-stabilized polypropylene with an expected lifespan of 50 years.
  • NZ Standards Compliant: Fully meets all wastewater containment requirements of Section 4.3.3 of AS/NZS 1547:2012.
  • Challenging Site Specialist: Lightweight plastic modules offer trade-quality ease of transport and quick installation in tight spots.
  • Environmentally Proven: Trusted for use in sensitive ecological zones due to advanced biological nitrogen reduction.

The Advanced Three-Stage Treatment Process

Primary Chamber / Tank: Influent enters the primary chamber directly from the home, where scum and heavy solids settle out and separate from the liquid. This primary treated effluent then flows through a transfer port into the aeration tank. This chamber also serves as storage for sludge returned from the clarification stage, aiding in continuous breakdown.

Aeration Chamber: As wastewater enters from the primary chamber, air is introduced via a single quiet air blower. This creates a highly oxygenated environment for aerobic bacteria and other helpful organisms to actively consume organic matter. The tank design prevents short-circuiting to ensure extended aeration, while specialized internal media supports rich bacterial growth.

Clarification Chamber: This zone is a quiet settling area where remaining suspended particles and solids separate from the treated water. These particles are continuously returned to the primary chamber via a sludge return line, which assists in further biological reduction, denitrification, and ensures a constant food supply of microbes to keep the system active during periods of low flow.
